The common Admission test is one of the most popular exams that candidates who are interested in the various MBA subjects appear for. These CAT results decide which management college from among hundreds does the candidate gets admission in. The exam is conducted online and its syllabus consists of Language Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. The duration of the exam is 180 minutes.
The candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/institution with a minimum aggregate of 50% are eligible for appearing for the exam. There is a 5% relaxation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disability (PWD), and Differently Able (D/A) people. Students in their final year of graduation can also appear for the exam but their admission will only be cemented when the necessary documents of completing the graduation are presented by them.
It should be noted that it is not possible to get direct admission in the top 50 MBA colleges without the CAT score but that does not mean one cannot get into an MBA college. Some several universities and colleges do not need the CAT scores for your admission into the MBA courses they are offering. They might conduct their entrance examinations that you have to clear and get the admission.
Another way of landing a seat in a top MBA college is through the Management Quota. These colleges that offer Management Quota are located in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and others. The Directorate of Technical Education has stated that 20% of the institute level seats can be offered to students through this quota. The instruction laid down by DTE for Directors or Principles of such colleges is that the institute will be open for applications for available seats by publicizing it in at least two newspapers along with the webpage of the institute. All the relevant information about the admission procedure should be mentioned in the newspaper/ website including the rules of admission, eligibility criteria, and other such important details.
Even NRIs, PIO, and Foreign National Candidates can go to an MBA college. The eligibility criteria for such people is that they should have the basic educational qualifications as are specified in the admission rules. If they cannot appear for an MBA entrance exam, they can choose to appear for CET as well which is an exam conducted by the Association of all colleges of a particular type in a particular state.
In case of any other doubt, it is best to contact the college desk first so that you are sure about the necessary steps that are to be taken.
